Susan Nygaard

Susan Nygaard – July 27, 1944 – September 2, 2021

Susan, age 77, was called home to be with the Lord and passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on September 2, 2021. Susan was born Rosa Mae Rittmiller in Oakes, North Dakota to Gustav and Martha Rittmiller. She was the youngest of eleven children. She moved to Fargo, North Dakota after being adopted by Albin and Martha Johnson at the age of six.

She attended Fargo High School where she met the love of her life, George Edward Nygaard. They were united in marriage on July 10, 1965, and together raised three children; Gregory, Gary and Laura. Her priority in life was always her family, and the love she had for her children and grandchildren was immeasurable, as was their love for her. She had a strong and wonderful relationship with the Lord throughout her life, but returned to the Seventh Day Adventist faith later in life. Her genuine and steadfast faith was an inspiration to her family as well as others who were close to her. She will be missed dearly by family members and friends.

Susan is survived by her son Greg (Patricia) Nygaard, daughter Laura (Daniel) Hoffard, Ronald (Marlene) Wichael, brother Orville (Greta) Rittmiller, grandchildren, Alexis, Grant, Tristen, Grace, Toby and Margaret (Maggie). She has many nieces, nephews and cousins that she loved dearly, who will carry her spirit within them.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, son Gary, parents and siblings.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00pm on Sunday September 19, 2021, at Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Baxter, Minnesota. A family visitation is scheduled for 12:00pm, prior to her service.

Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery will follow.
