Ronald "Ron" Lovelace

Ronald “Ron” Lovelace, 82, Browerville, MN, died Wednesday, May 22nd at the Little Falls Care Center, Little Falls, MN, after a long battle with cancer.  The Memorial Service for Ron will be at 11 AM, Wednesday, May 29th at the Motley Free Methodist Church, Motley, with Pastor Jim Johnson officiating.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Staples and for one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be later at Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Staples.

Ron was born on February 14, 1937 at the Bertha Hospital in Bertha, MN, son of Ivan and Alta (Hable) Lovelace.  He was raised on a dairy farm and attended country school and attended high school in Staples.  He entered the US Air Force following his 17th birthday and trained in missile technology and installation.  While in the Air Force, he worked with the Titan missile program.  He was united in marriage with Terry (Ethel) Rencountre on May 31, 1958 in Tupelo, Mississippi.  Following his discharge, he worked as a chauffeur for George Marshall, Director of the movie, “How The West Was Won”.  After his stint as a chauffeur, Ron worked for the Peter Kiewit Company doing Minuteman Missile installations for 2.5 years.  The family spent some time in Utah and sharecropping in Wyoming, before returning to the family dairy farm near Browerville, where they farmed from 1965 to 1975.  They began trucking over the road and continued for thirty-eight years until retiring in 2013, when they returned to Browerville, where they have lived since.  Ron served as a court-appointed foster parent, fostering older children who eventually went into the service or went back to live with their families.

Ron is survived by his wife of 61 Years, Terry (Ethel) Lovelace; a son: Robert of Northglenn, CO; a daughter: Lorretta (Kevin) Ely of Westminster, CO; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a sister: Marvel Bartylla of Browerville, MN; and many nieces and nephews scattered across the US.  Ron was preceded in death by his parents: Ivan and Alta Lovelace; an infant sister: Jane Mae Lovelace; and a son: Michael Lovelace in 1973.
