Norman Dyrdahl

Norman Kermit Dyrdahl died September 29, 2019. Memorial services will be held 11:00AM on Friday, October 11, 2019 at Living Savior Lutheran Church in Lake Shore, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior. Interment will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery at 3:00PM.

Norman was born in 1937 and raised in Gonvick, MN. He faithfully attended Samhold Lutheran Church and graduated in 1955 from Gonvick High School where in addition to his studies, he played football and basketball. After high school, Norman studied business for two years at Bemidji State Teacher’s College and played two seasons of football. In November of 1957 he enlisted in the United States Army where he served honorably for two years. He was trained as a Radio Teletype-Telegraph Operator at Fort Gordon, GA. Upon completion of training he was assigned to the HQ Battery 4th Infantry Division Artillery at Fort Lewis, Washington. At the expiration of his term of service, Norman had achieved the grade of Specialist earned a Good Conduct Medal and was transferred into the Inactive U. S. Army Reserves. In 1963 Norman married La Lonnie Felten of Pine City, MN. They enjoyed a 57 year marriage and had two children. They raised their family in Chisholm, MN for 20 years. Norman was a loyal man filled with integrity and character. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping and was a true family man. Norman was a career electrician having served 41 years in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union. He enjoyed 20 years of retired life, maintaining homes in Minnesota and Florida, returning home to Minnesota to spend time with family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife Lonnie, daughter Kimberly and husband Mark (Hallum), son Michael and wife Carolyn (Kroening) Dyrdahl, and grandson Casey Hallum and granddaughter Katie Hallum.
