Marian Anthony

Marian Anthony, age72, of Brainerd died October 4, 2019 surrounded by her loving family at the St. Cloud Hospital.  A celebration of Marian’s life will be 2PM on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the St. Mathias Pavilion in Brainerd.

Marian was born July 28, 1947 in Belcourt, ND on the Ojibwe Reservation; daughter of Patricia Clauthier.  She moved to Grand Forks, ND at the age of 14 and eventually to the Brainerd Area.  Upon moving to Brainerd she met the love of her life and soul mate of 52 years, Robert “Bob” Anthony Sr.  The couple was married on May 9, 1967 in Sisseton, SD.  Marian had many struggles throughout her life, and fought hard to come out on top. She worked as a security guard for Grand Casino Mille Lacs, and she took her job very seriously.  Marian enjoyed ventures to second hand stores, the goddess of going to garage sales and always stayed up to date with her fashion trends.  She loved horses, had a beautiful singing voice, and occasionally played the electric guitar. Marian will forever be remembered as funny, amazing, strong, loving, nonjudgmental, kind, generous and she had a great sense of humor with an infectious smile.  Above all else she loved her family beyond words and passionately taught each generation her native heritage and traditions.  No one could ever ask for a better woman, best friend, mother, or teacher.  Marian will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Marian is survived by her daughters, Lori Jo Turner, Tammy Banks, Julia Anthony, Lisa Pendegayosh; sons, Robert Jr. (Wendy) Anthony, Quinn Anthony; siblings, Clifford Sr., Beverly, Betty “Chip,” Patricia, Cheryl “Kitten,” Ruby; She was “Meme” or “Mammie” to many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Marian is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia; husband, Robert “Bob”; brother, Joe Sr. “Buzz.”
