John Pflepsen

John Fredrick Pflepsen, 77, of Brainerd, passed away at his home Thursday, May 9, 2019.  A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 1, 2019 at the Eagle’s Club in Brainerd.

John was born in Brainerd the son of Arnold and Irene (Schrader) Pflepsen on June 9, 1941.  He was the third of four boys.  He graduated from Washington High School in Brainerd in 1959.  He was united in marriage to Betty Manlick on August 10, 1963 in Little Falls, MN.  John and Betty had two children, Stephanie and Amy.  He worked at Auto Import from 1961 until his retirement in 2016. John enjoyed taking care of his yards, dancing with Betty, bowling, playing pool, hunting, and fishing with his children and grandchildren.  His summers were spent at the cabin or on his deck having bonfires and grilling steaks for anyone who stopped by.

John will be missed by his wife, Betty; daughters, Stephanie (Jay Thompson) Pflepsen and Amy (Derick) Christensen; grandchildren, Derek (Samantha Harting) Carter, Seth (Halee Goodrich) Carter, Anna Pflepsen, Chase Logelin, Meadow, Maya, Wallace, and Hayden Christensen; great-grandchildren, Bronson and Beau; brothers, Arnold (Susanne) Pflepsen; sisters-in-law, Polly Pflepsen, Debra Manlick, Diane (Jim) Balaski and Carol Smies; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers; Gerald and Donald Pflepsen; in-laws, Mary (Roy) McNeese, Joan Manlick, Judy (Jake) Shinabarger, and George Schommer.
