Obituary

James “Ammo” Amundson, 70, passed away suddenly on November 11, 2020.

Ammo was born on October 02, 1950 in Minneapolis to Bob and JoAnne (Anderson) Amundson. He was a huge Minnesota Twins Fan his entire life. He enjoyed all sports, especially golf, fishing, and hunting turkeys. Ammo also enjoyed our numerous dogs over the years, vegetable gardening, and his family. He also had the uncanny ability to win at pull tabs. He would invariably put the tab to his head like Johnny Carson and predict a winner. More times than we can count, he would win! He made everyone around him laugh all the time. His smile was infectious and his kindness never ending. He earned a Doctorate in Chiropractic from Northwestern Health Sciences University and a Master Degree in Education. He taught at NWHSU for 23 years. In retirement he worked part time at Deacon’s Golf Course in Breezy Point and he enjoyed every moment. Ammo’s favorite line in retirement was when people would ask him if he still worked, he would reply “Yes, I work fulltime (14 hours a week)”. He loved life and he loved people. He will be deeply missed by everyone who was lucky enough to have known him.

He is survived by his wife, Trudi, of 46 years; his brother Rob (Jean) and sisters Kay Sumner and Jodi Garvey (Matt); his dogs Bo and Bella; nieces Katie, Kris, and Jennifer; nephews James, Mike, Pat, Aaron, and his godson Jon; numerous great nieces and nephews, and many long-time friends.

Private Family services will take place. Memorials are preferred to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Wild and Free in Garrison, MN. When COVID-19 has diminished, there will be a celebration of his life in Bloomington, MN.
