Gwen Besnett

Gwendolyn (Gwen) P. Besnett, 83, of Pine River, MN died Friday, April 26, 2019 at her home. A Memorial service for Gwen will be 10:30AM, Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Crosslake Presbyterian Church 14444 Daggett Pine Road, Crosslake, MN, with a luncheon to follow.

Gwen (Lindgren) was born in Owen WI.  She attended nursing school at Glenwood Hills Psychiatric Hospital.  She spent 30 years as a nurse and office manager to a Dermatology practice, staying with the practice both times it was sold.  She then retired after 5 years as an office manager for an Ophthalmology group.Gwen was very active in local politics.  She was well known for her work with the PTA and School Board issues for Robbinsdale School District 281 as well as with local politics in the 60’s and 70’s when her family lived in Crystal, MN.  Upon retirement she moved to Pine River (Timothy Township, Crow Wing County) where she remained active with the DFL.  She was involved in many annual fundraising events as well as serving as Treasurer and board member to the County DFL Party.

Gwen is proceeded in death by her parents: Anna and Vaner Lindgren, her brothers: Bernard, Ronald, Jerry, and Tommy, and her grandchildren: Benjamin and Abbey.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 61 years Charles T. (Tom) Besnett, her sisters: Cala and Karen, her brother Peter (Linda) and her 3 daughters Lisa Besnett, Andrea Lund (Butch) and Janine Hart (Mark) as well as her grandchildren Zachary (Darcy), Orion, Alyx (Alex), Karina, Sam and Noah; and her 5 great grandchildren.

She was well loved, admired, depended upon, and will be greatly missed.
