William Wegler

William ( Bill) Robert Wegler, age 84 of Crosslake MN, formerly of Chanhassen, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family at his side. Bill was born on April 30, 1933 in Deephaven, MN to Lawrence and Flossie Wegler. He was one of three children and a graduate of Deephaven High School. On July 3rd 1959, Bill married Joan Vollmer in Woodrow, Iowa. They had three children.

Bill was an avid fisherman. One of his favorite things to do was to go on road trips with friends and family. The "Wall of Fame" in his garage became legendary with photos of special memories!

Bill joined the Navy in May of 1954 and was honorably discharged in May of 1956. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 49.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jim Wegler of Crosslake, his sister Donna Dawson of Seattle, WA and his wife Joan. Survivors include his three children, Lori Wegler of Chaska, Rodney Wegler of Chaska and Daniel Wegler of Excelsior. Grandchildren Jeff Chelman of St. Louis Park, and Amber (Nick) Angell of Shakopee and 3 great granddaughters Cadyn, Piper and Anthem Angell. With another great grandchild due in August 2018.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Saturday April 28, 2018 at the Cross Lake American Legion post 500 located at 35112 County Road 3, Crosslake MN from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.Bill requested a dress code of T-shirts and jeans. Memorials preferred to the family. No flowers please. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
