Vivian Kathleen (Seydel) Johnson born to Henry & Bertina (Molstad) Seydel September 22, 1916 in Rochester MN. Baptized Oct 29, 1916 - age 7 she moved to Menno, SD, where her father was in the restaurant business until his death. Aunt Vivian was 10 at this time. Her Mother moved them back to St. Paul where they lived with Vivian's Aunt Lena & Uncle Sherman. Vivian went St. Paul Johnson High School. She spent her junior year in Chicago with her Aunt & Uncle.

On her return to Minnesota she & her mother moved to Big Lake where she finished her senior year. It was in Big Lake where she met Melvin Johnson, her husband of 53 years at Luther League. Her first thoughts when she saw him was "Gee he's cute!" After graduation she went to St Paul Secretarial School then worked in a wrap & wax paper company in Minneapolis. She also worked for Blue Cross as a secretary in the main office. Four years after meeting Mel they were married on June 17, 1939 at Saron Lutheran Church in Big Lake. They spent every Saturday night dancing at Camp Cozy. They farmed next to the Johnson family farm for a time, worked in the cities and in 1947 they purchased a cafe, Mel's Coffee Shop, in Pine River where they settled. They enjoyed their Lake home in Chickamaw Beach & winter home in Rock Shadows, AZ for many years. After Mel passed away, Vivian continued to live in Pine River where she had many friends.

Vivian is survived by her many nieces and nephews, Great nieces and nephews and Great Great nieces and nephews and Great Great Great nieces and nephews and her many friends from over the years.

Funeral services will be held at First Lutheran Church in Pine River on Friday, December 22, 2017, at 10 AM and will be officiated by Reverend Jacob Burkman. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Pine River. Arrangements are with Kline Funeral home, Pine River.
