Violet Mertens

Violet was born on December 10, 1927, in Pierre, SD, to William and Enid Mapes. At a young age her family moved to the Wright, MN area where she attended country school. The family moved to Staples following Enids death. On October 11, 1949, Violet married David Mertens and they were blessed with two children. Violet was a member of the Scared Heart Church and enjoyed reading, sewing, and spending time with her gtandchildren. Violet is survived by her children, Gloria (David) Perfetti of Staples, and Rodney Mertens of Crosslake; 4 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sister, Mary Edith Kephart; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, David; her parents; and a brother, Marvin.
