Vernon Alvin Ferrian, 85, passed away on March 6, 2026, at Woodland Good Samaritan in Brainerd, Minnesota.
Vernon was born on May 11, 1940, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Frank and Lorraine Gertrude (Bertram) Ferrian. On September 2, 1963, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Ann Bruder in Long Prairie, Minnesota. Together they built a life centered around family, work ethic, and time spent outdoors.
Vernon worked as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic and Welder for the Minnesota State Highway Department for 37 years. He took great pride in his work and was known for his mechanical skill and ability to fix or build just about anything.
In his free time, Vernon enjoyed fishing, welding projects, and spending time outdoors. Hunting, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing were among his favorite seasonal activities. He also enjoyed playing cards, board games, chess, and softball, often sharing those moments with family and friends.
Vernon is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn; his children, Lorri (Joe Kempenich), David (Lisa Lenk), Lee, Jon (Edythe Mudgett), and Kurt (Amy Jo); 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Karin Ferrian; granddaughter, Leanne Ferrian; and his siblings, Lorraine, Frank, Arlene, Yvonne, Mary Jean, Joe-Al, and Evelyn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd, Minnesota, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Lunch will follow the Mass at the church. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Center Township Cemetery in Merrifield.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Baxter.
