Thomas 'TJ' Joshua Koop

Thomas Joshua (TJ) Koop was born to Joshua and Emily Koop on August 15, 2026 at 11:04am in St. Cloud, MN. He was 4 pounds, 15.3oz. TJ passed away peacefully in Minneapolis on the evening of August 21, 2026 in his mother’s arms surrounded by his father, both sets of grandparents, his big brother, and his auntie. He was 6 days old. Before he passed, TJ was baptized alongside his big brother, Lucas.

He is survived by his parents, Joshua and Emily Koop, big brother Lucas Koop, maternal grandparents Scott and Carol Johannes, paternal grandparents Thomas and Sherry Koop, Aunt Kaylee and Uncle Nathan Bates, cousins Natalie, Noah, and Oliver, his paternal great-grandmother Shirley Koop, and many other extended family members and family friends. He is preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents Richard and Beverly Norlin and Merl and Zona Johannes, his paternal great-grandfather Marvin Koop and his paternal great-grandparents Elizabeth and Daniel Hanson.

A celebration of life is planned for Friday, September 4th at 11:00am with a visitation beforehand at 10:00am at Halvorson-Taylor Funeral Home in Brainerd, MN. The family asks that everyone wear something colorful to honor this little life gone too soon.

Interment will occur at a later date with immediate family.

In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a donation in honor of TJ, please consider donating to the Gorecki Guest House in St. Cloud, MN. This is where Josh and Emily were able to stay in St. Cloud while TJ was in the NICU.
