Stephen Boyd Targeson 1953-2025
Stephen Boyd Targeson, age 72, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, after a courageous battle with COPD. He was a loving father to his two daughters, Nicole White (Bernie) and Christina Casoria (Tim), and an adoring grandfather to Jack and Libby White and Mattison Casoria. He also shared a lifelong friendship and deep bond with his former wife, Sherry Targeson, who remained his steadfast companion and best friend.
Born in 1953, Stephen grew up surrounded by his three sisters—CrisAnn, Marcie, and Laurine—which may have destined him to become the proudest “girl dad” there ever was. While he could be tough and determined, he poured strength, confidence, and just the right amount of stubbornness into his daughters, always believing in their ability to stand tall in the world.
Stephen was a man of integrity, sharp wit, and an unrelenting passion for what he believed in. Beneath his strong exterior was a generous heart—quick to forgive, always ready with a smile, and happiest when surrounded by the people he loved. He had an adventurous spirit and a lifelong love of the outdoors. Whether he was hunting, ice fishing, scouting, or simply exploring, nature was his sanctuary and his joy. His passion for adventure and the great outdoors inspired everyone who knew him. He will be thought of when the weather turns crisp in the fall and deer season is upon us.
A proud Vietnam era veteran, Stephen served honorably in the U.S. Army as a heavy equipment operator—a trade he continued with pride throughout his career until his retirement.
In his later years, Stephen’s heart found rest in his faith. He accepted Jesus as his Savior, showing all of us that it is never too late to discover the peace of an eternal relationship with God.
A small, intimate service to honor Stephen’s life will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, Minnesota.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel.
