Stephen Lee Roe, of Crosslake, MN, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, at the age of 84. Born February 15, 1941, in Minneapolis, MN, to Clyde and Katherine (Dvoracek) Roe, Stephen’s life was marked by a love for his family, his community, and his many hobbies.
Stephen graduated from Eden Prairie High School before pursuing higher education at Gustavus Adolphus College and the University of Minnesota, where he earned his engineering degree. He put his skills and leadership to good use, serving on the Crosslake City Council for eight years and proudly serving as mayor for two.
On June 13, 1993, Stephen married Beryl Johnson, with whom he shared a deep and abiding love. Stephen had a passion for radio-controlled airplanes, spending countless hours building and flying them, delighting in the craftsmanship and the joy they brought.
Above all, Stephen cherished his grandchildren and the time he spent with them. His warmth, wisdom, and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Beryl; children, Scott Roe, Jeffrey (Amy) Roe, Stephanie (Jeff) Crowl, Paul (Carrie Blossom) Nichols; grandchildren, Henry, Charlotte, Vincent Roe, Alex, Britta and Annika Roe, and Steven and Lauren Crowl; sister Barbara Russell of Vera Beach, Florida; and countless cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Katherine.
Funeral Services will take place on July 24, 2025, starting with interment at 10:30am at Pinewood Cemetery in Crosslake. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Baxter at 12:00pm with a time of sharing at 12:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Crosslake Fire Department.
