Stephen Daigle

Stephen T. Daigle, 82, of Brainerd, died Sunday, June 5, 2011 at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 14 at St. Francis Catholic Church. Family and friends are invited to gather Monday evening from 5-7 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Interment with military honors provided by the Brainerd American Legion and VFW Posts will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 15 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

Stephen was born January 20, 1929 in Cloquet, MN, the son of Theodore and Hazel (Tougas) Daigle. In 1948, he was united in marriage to Elna Larka. While working for US Steel, the couple made their home in Duluth and Virginia, MN. In the 1980s, they moved to the Brainerd Lakes Area. He retired from the US National Guard with a rank of Master Sergeant. During his free time, Stephen enjoyed making elaborate hooked rugs. He loved to fish and camp in the Lake Ely and Vermillion areas. He was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus member.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Elna "Ducky"; son, Tom; and his parents. He will be missed by his daughter, Stephanie M. Daigle; son, Herb (Jane) Daigle; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brother, Ted; sister, Clara Lou Kinnenen; and many nieces and nephews.
