Shirley “Bunny” Window

April 17, 1938 – December 23, 2025

Shirley “Bunny” Ann Window (Anderson) passed away peacefully at her home on December 23, 2025, at the age of 87.

Bunny was born on Easter Sunday, April 17, 1938, in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota, the second youngest of five daughters born to Gil and Esther (Halberg) Anderson. From a young age, Bunny learned the meaning of dedication and responsibility while helping at her parents’ business, Gil’s Café, in downtown Pequot Lakes. Those early years shaped her strong work ethic and her lifelong devotion to the people she loved. She graduated from Pequot Lakes High School in 1956 and the friendships she formed in her youth remained dear to her throughout her life. Following high school, Bunny went on to graduate from the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis.

Bunny built a successful career in financial services, working for many years as a Branch Manager in Pine River. Her commitment to service extended beyond her profession when she proudly served as Mayor of Pine River for 13 consecutive years, becoming at that time the longest-serving female mayor in Minnesota. Later, she moved to Henderson, Nevada, where she continued her career as a Branch Manager for nearly 20 years.

While living in Nevada, Bunny met the love of her life, Bill Window. They were married for 23 years, sharing a deep bond, mutual respect, and countless cherished memories. After retiring, Bunny and Bill returned to Minnesota in 2012 and made their home in Brainerd. There, Bunny became an active member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Baxter.

Above all else, Bunny’s heart belonged to her family. She often said that family was the most important thing in her life, Holidays, birthdays, and family gatherings were her greatest joy, and she treasured every moment spent with her family. Her love was generous and deeply felt by all who knew her. Bunny will be profoundly missed by her family, her many friends, and all whose lives she touched. She was also a devoted, lifelong supporter and advocate for Special Olympics.

Grateful to have shared her life are her loving husband, Bill Window; her adult children from her first marriage, sons, Ricky Houston and Randy (Carri) Houston; daughter Cindy (Jerome) Urbaniak; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.

Bunny was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Mardell Gow, Evelyn Webb, Carolyn Buss, Donna Davis; and an infant daughter, Sandra Houston.

The family extends a heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living for their exceptional care and support over the past year and to St. Croix Hospice for the compassionate and professional care.
