Shirley Bristow

Shirley Marie Bristow, age 96, of Backus, passed away August 4, 2017.
She was born April 3, 1921 in Wesley, Iowa, to Charlotte and Edward Wolf.

Shirley was a school teacher, homemaker, farmer's wife, and mother. Shirley and her husband, Calvin moved to Minnesota in 1950 where they started their own farm and raised their children together. She enjoyed helping with the farming whenever an extra hand was needed. She loved gardening and canning. She always had beautiful flower gardens which she enjoyed. Sewing was one of her talents and has sewn many different items including quilts. She was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pine River.

Shirley's real love was her family. She and Calvin had seven children. She enjoyed her visits daily with one or more of her children and grandchildren. She took an active interest in each child and grandchild's life. She was more than just a Loving Mother, she was also a friend, mentor, and role model for all of her family.

Shirley is survived by her seven children: Raphael Dabill (Bill) of Backus, MaryLou Bristow of Dallas, Texas, Calvin Jr. "Marc" Bristow (Bonnie) of Backus, Michael Bristow (Barbara) of Sauk Rapids, Thomas Bristow (Karen) of Backus, Conrad Bristow (Ellen) of Backus, Julie Brown of Backus; two sisters, Nedra Light, Denver Colorado and Patricia Brenden, Northfield Minnesota; 20 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Bristow Sr.; grandchildren, Kathy, Patrick, and Wade; great-granddaughter, Nicole Marie; daughter-in-law, Sandra; son-in-law, Alan.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11 AM on Friday, August 11, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Pine River. Rosary will begin at 10 AM. Visitation will be Thursday, August 10, from 5 to 7 PM at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Pine River.
