Samuel Maendel

May 7, 1953 — December 8, 2021

Samuel Maendel, born May 17th, 1953, to Jacob and Elizabeth Maendel, went home to be with Jesus December 8th, 2021. Born in Fordville, North Dakota, his family relocated to Pennsylvania and Ohio until age 18. He graduated from Leetonia High School in Ohio class of 1971. After marrying Annie Randle in 1975, the couple moved to Alliance, Ohio and started a family. They continued raising their family in Minnesota starting in 1983, where he ran the family business, Elmcrest Farm Greenhouse till 1996 when he became a full time over-the-road trucker. Sam and Annie became missionaries to Guatemala in 2013 and spread love, joy and the Good news of forgiveness of sin all over the impoverished country. In 2015,  he was diagnosed with Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and receive a lung transplant within 2 months. Being a faithful follower of Christ, Sam cherished the many friendships he had, many of them originating at the churches he faithfully attended over the years including the Body of Christian Fellowship, Agape Christian Fellowship, Cornerstone, Remnant Ministry Center, Communitas Church, and Casino Assembly of God. Sam was faithfully married for 46 years to the love of his life, Annie and their God-glorifying marriage will continue to inspire couples for years to come. Samuel is survived by his 11 siblings, Thelma, Bruce, Matthew, Ephraim, Elias, Rachel, Heidi, Joshua, Jerome, Susanna, and David. His children Jesse, Malachi, Nathanael, Caleb, Dana, Louisa and Frances and his Grandchildren Serenity, Melody, Tyler, Daniel, Isaac, Grace, Jasmine, Lilly, Chantell, Joshuah, Benjamin, Hannah, Hudson, Amy, Bethany, Joel, Dawson, Haven and Sarah. Sam will be an enthusiastic tour guide one day for those of us who trust in Jesus and are destined for an eternity in heaven.
