Ruth Eibes

Bernita Ruth Eibes died on February 1, 2018. Ruth was born in Coralville, Iowa, on May 1, 1926, to Vincent and Dorothy Baird, growing up and spending her youth in the Douds-Leandro area of Iowa. Ruth graduated from Iowa Wesleyan Business College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and later married Virgil Eibes and moved to Pine River in 1949. She lived for many years in the Blind Lake area before moving “into town” to Riverside Villas and then to the Good Samaritan Society Center.

For many years Ruth was a stay-at-home mother whose pride and joy were her children; she did in-home day care, and many knew and appreciated her seamstress skills, particularly those who received a hand embroidered baby quilt or a hand smocked baby dress. Ruth later worked at and retired from the Pine River-Backus Elementary School.

Ruth is survived by her sister, Mary Axtell; children: Patricia (Clayton) Troskey of Williams, MN, Jennifer Farnam of Pine River, MN, Carol Eibes of Pine River, MN, Vicki Eibes of Minneapolis, MN, Jeraldine (Donald) Peters of Andover, MN, Kenneth (Nancy) Eibes of Princeton, MN, Michael (Susan) Eibes of Mounds View, MN, Thomas (Sara) Eibes of Sartell, MN; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by infant son, Robert James; parents Dorothy and Vincent Baird; brothers Robert and John Baird; and son-in-law Dale Farnam.

Memorial services and a celebration of life were held February 5, 2018, at the Kline Funeral Home in Pine River, MN.
