Russell Edgeton

Russell Louis Edgeton, 84, of Eagan, Minnesota, died on August 25, 2026 in Burnsville, Minnesota.

Russ was born in Taopi, Minnesota, to Leo and Lois (Eastman) Edgeton and grew up on the family farm in Ansel Township near Pine River with his siblings, Jim, Lyle, Bernie, Kay, and Rick. He attended Pine River schools, where he participated in baseball, football, basketball, track, and 4-H and was crowned homecoming king. It was also there, in seventh grade, that he met Glenda.

After graduating, Russ served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965 as an Airman First Class, working on the hydraulics of the F-101 Voodoo aircraft while stationed in Glasgow, Montana. He later trained in radio and electronics at Brown Institute and began a 38-year career as a radio and electronics mechanic with Northwest Airlines.

Russ and Glenda's story spanned nearly seven decades, including more than 60 years of marriage. Their first child, Todd Russell, was born in 1967 and, though his life lasted just 19 days, remained deeply loved throughout their lives. They welcomed daughter Stephanie in 1969, settled in Eagan in 1971, and welcomed son Ryan in 1972. Stephanie and Ryan's lives, families, and accomplishments brought Russ and Glenda great pride and joy throughout the years.

Family remained an important part of Russ's life. In 1980, he and his brothers purchased a hunting shack near Pine River, where deer season became a treasured annual family tradition. Russ also maintained lifelong friendships with Art and Marilyn and with Jerry and Carol. He and Glenda enjoyed years of dinners, card games, bowling, travel, and time spent with family and friends.

Russ was a quiet and steady presence in the lives of the people he loved. He had a quick mind, a keen sense of humor, and an extraordinary ability to fix just about anything. More than anything, Russ took care of his people. He helped when something needed doing, showed up for his children and grandchildren, and supported the people he loved in the things that mattered to them. That devotion was especially evident in the care he gave Glenda during the final years of their marriage.

There are people whose love is easy to hear because they say it often and loudly. Russ' love wasn't often expressed in words, but could be seen in every quiet way he took care of others.

Russ is survived by his siblings, Lyle (Jan), Bernie (Kathy), and Kay (Sue); his sister-in-law, Carol Edgeton; his children, Stephanie Kapfer (partner Bill Fisher) and Ryan Edgeton (Michelle and former spouse Kerrie Stein); his cherished grandchildren, Todd Edgeton, Connor Kapfer (partner Sydney Collins), Kieran Kapfer, Joseph Edgeton, Abigail Anderson, Madolyn Anderson, Kelsey Kapfer, Sophia Anderson, William Edgeton, and Griffin Anderson; many dear nieces and nephews; and a large group of sisters and brothers-in-law with whom he shared many memories.

Russ was preceded in death by his beloved wife of more than 60 years, Glenda Jeanne Edgeton; their infant son, Todd Russell; his parents, Leo and Lois Edgeton; his infant sister, Mary Jo; his brother, Leo James "Jim" Edgeton and his wife, Beverly; and his brother, Richard "Rick" Edgeton.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Brenny-Kline Funeral Home in Pine River. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Pine Ridge Cemetery. Following the burial, family and friends are invited to gather for a luncheon at Bites Pub and Grub in Pine River.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Glenda believed deeply in giving, and Russ supported her generosity throughout their life together. Russ most often gave through acts of service, quietly helping wherever he was needed. To honor his memory, consider doing the same: lend a hand, fix something for a neighbor, help with a project, clear a neighbor's driveway, or simply show up for someone who needs you. Take care of each other.
