Russell E. Anderson

Russell E. Anderson, age 95, of Verndale, MN passed away peacefully in Wadena, surrounded by his family. Funeral services for Russell will be held on Saturday November 26, 2022, at 11:00am at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN. There will be a visitation held one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.

Russell was born to Edward and Elsie (Winter) Anderson on October 31, 1927, in Wadena, MN. In 1945, he enlisted in the United State Navy, and proudly served in World War II. After returning from his Naval service, Russell began his career in the agricultural field. He was a proud dairy farmer in Verndale for most of his life.

A favorite hobby of Russell’s was listening to music. He managed to collect thousands of records over time, and each one was put to good use playing his favorites. He loved his cats, goats, and watching the birds. He loved a good word find challenge, loved going to church, and frequently enjoyed a sweet treat of his favorite Schwan’s ice cream.

Russell is survived by his children Mike (Kathy) Anderson, David (Charlotte) Anderson, Mark (Edwina) Anderson, and Denise (Red) Lowen, six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, his sister Eileen Trout, and sister in-law Shirley Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, former spouse Carole Winter his brothers Richard and Robert, and granddaughter Tiffany Anderson.

Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
