Roland Anderson

April 22, 1938 — March 27, 2022

Roland Anderson Jr., age 83, of Pillager, died peacefully at home on March 27, 2022. He was born in Brainerd to Roland Sr. and Mardel (Nubbe) Anderson. Roland married Elsie Marie Ahrens on February 9, 1957. They were married for 65 years. Roland retired from Potlatch Paper Mill in 1998 where he worked for 38 years.

After his retirement, he worked for Anderson Brothers Construction, as well as Hengels Ready Mix and Construction. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed serving in the community with the Pillager Area Volunteer Fire Department for 27 years, including 19 years as Fire Chief. He also served in various positions on the Sylvan Township Board for 11 years and actively worked for the DNR from the age of 16 to the age of 80. Roland also enjoyed harvesting wild rice in the fall with Al Bentler and has many fond memories of deer hunting and fishing with the boys.

Roland is sweetly remembered and missed by his wife, Marie Anderson, children Angela (Mark) Newfield, Scott Anderson, Mark (Lynnel) Anderson, Jon (Linda) Anderson, Jane (Eric) Peterson, and his treasured grandchildren, Katrina (Harris) Wood, Derek (Chelsea) Anderson, Hannah (Justin Gangl) Anderson, Sara (Dustin) Karppinen, Traci (Nick Kist) Anderson, TJ Anderson, Gregory Peterson, and Elyse Peterson, many great grandchildren, and small companion, Carly the dachshund.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday April 2, 2022, at 2:00pm at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Baxter.

Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Baxter.
