Rodney Simon

Rodney Simon, age 59, passed away peacefully at his home on May 25, 2025. He was born on August 27, 1965, in Princeton, Minnesota, to JoAnne Fay Brindamour and Joseph Gessell.

Rodney worked for many years in the tree service industry, where he became well known for his dedication and strong work ethic. He also ran his own stump grinding business, where he made many friends and enjoyed chatting with customers—something he truly looked forward to every day.

Rodney had a deep love for family and the outdoors. He especially enjoyed time on the lake, camping, fishing, snowmobiling, and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings.

Rodney is survived by his wife of 34 years Kim Simon; his children: Brooke Kaitlyn Simon, Sammy Jo Butts, and Nick Scholler; his sister, Shelly Deason; nephew and niece Kyle and Jasper Deason; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, JoAnne Simon and Joe Gessell, and his grandparents, Wally and Irene Brindamour.

Rodney’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to honor Rodney by spending time outdoors with loved ones—just as he would have.
