Robert 'Bob' Jensen

April 29, 1956 — March 17, 2026

Staples

Robert (Bob) Joseph Jensen, 69, passed peacefully on March 17, 2026, right where he belonged—surrounded by the loving arms of his family on the same rural Minnesota farm that had shaped his earliest memories and held his final breath.

Born in Saint Paul, Nebraska, on April 29, 1956, to Kenneth and Helen Jensen, Bob grew up amid the wide-open fields and quiet rhythms of the woods in rural Staples. He graduated from Staples High School in 1974, carrying with him a strong work ethic and an unquenchable curiosity about how things worked. Adventure soon called him west to California, where he met the love of his life, Mary. Together they built a vibrant home and raised three children—Amy (Victor), Bonnie, and Bob Jr. (Susannah)—over 23 cherished years filled with laughter, lessons, and the everyday miracles of family.

After Mary’s passing, Bob felt the pull of his roots. He returned to Minnesota, settling back on the family farm where the soil still remembered his footsteps from boyhood. There, in the place that had always felt like home, he spent his remaining years tending the land, fixing what was broken, and savoring the simple joys that meant the most.

Bob was a man who thrived on hard work and the satisfaction of a job well done. As an industrial mechanic, he kept the gears turning at Kendall McGaw, Procter & Gamble, and BNSF—his steady hands and sharp mind earning quiet respect in noisy shops across the years. Back on the farm, that same skill turned to keeping old tractors running, firewood neatly stacked, new building projects, and crops coaxed from stubborn ground.

Bob’s heart truly came alive outdoors. He loved the hum of the tractor engine beneath him, the whine of a chainsaw, the crackle of a campfire, the gentle tug of a fish on the line, the sharp report of a well-aimed shot in the crisp autumn air, and most of all, the sound of grandkids’ voices echoing across the property. Bob found his deepest contentment in those moments.

He was known far and wide for his kindness—a friendly wave from the tractor seat, a helping hand offered without being asked, and a quiet patriotism that showed in the flag he flew proudly and the values he lived every day.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Helen; his beloved wife, Mary; his brother, Kenneth; and his grandson, Christian. He leaves behind his three children, five granddaughters, one grandson, and two great-granddaughters—who will carry forward the stories, the lessons, and the love he poured into them.

His life will be celebrated at Brenny Funeral Home in Staples on May 8th with a visitation from 3-5 pm followed by a time of remembrance gathering.

Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
