Richard Roscoe, age 68, of Fergus Falls, MN, passed away on December 10, 2025, in Fergus Falls.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will take place at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.
Richard was born to Gerald and Shirley (Grecula) Roscoe on September 9, 1957, in Rockford, Illinois. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—playing cards and dice games, spending time with friends and family, listening to music, and being part of the community at the PAC in Fergus Falls. He was passionate about recycling and keeping the environment clean, both at work and at home. Richard’s kind heart, easygoing nature, and love of good company made him a joy to be around. The special pictures and drawings he made and sent at Christmastime will be dearly missed by all who were honored to receive them.
For the past eleven years, Richard made his home at the Arlington Group Home, where he formed many meaningful connections. One especially close friendship was with his housemate, Kathy. They spent many years together enjoying the things they loved—bowling, going out to eat, playing cards and dice, and sitting outside on the patio talking and watching the animals.
Sam Esary, Program Director with PCS Services, became not only a caregiver to Richard but a true friend. He was always there to guide and support Richard in whatever he needed—taking him to doctor appointments, shopping, bowling, visiting his wife in another town, and sharing daily laughter and jokes. His unwavering support made a profound difference in Richard’s life, and Richard considered him his best buddy.
Richard was also fortunate to have the support of Shelly Grothen, his social worker with Todd County Human Services. For the last twenty years, Shelly helped him navigate everything he needed to live a productive and happy life. She never quit, never gave up on him, and always offered steady guidance. The bond they shared was truly special.
The family also extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at LB Broen Home for the exceptional care and kindness they provided. Richard was very happy there and formed many connections with the staff, who made him feel at home and cared for him with compassion in his time of need.
He is survived by his siblings, Steve (Lori) Roscoe, Andrea (Ron) Hecker, and Pat (Sally) Roscoe; along with many nieces and nephews who will carry his memory forward. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, June.
