Richard Boyd Lestina, born December 30, 1955, passed away peacefully through family caregiving at home on July 5, 2025, following a heroic battle with pancreatic and peritoneal cancers.
Rick was passionate about his work as a water resources engineer with the city of Maple Grove, retiring in July of 2018. He transitioned with Lori to a beautiful Longville Lake home for his last 8 years of heaven on earth. He loved to work on the home, search for wood with buddy Kevin, play games with family and friends, the YAH club friends, fishing, boating, sitting on the deck with a beer, good friends and family. He loved watching and teaching others about birds, animals, trees, and flowers. He had a very scientific method of playing fantasy football and enjoyed watching his beloved Vikings. Rick was a wanderer with many adventures throughout the US and the world. His greatest joys and accomplishments were his faith, his amazing kids, helping other people, and home improvements. His cheerful attitude, laughter, dad jokes, faith and spirit will be missed by many.
Rick is survived by his spouse of 30 years, Lori Lestina, of Longville, MN; his greatest treasures, daughter, Andrea Larson (Alex) of Menahga, MN, son, Christian Lestina of Burnsville, MN, and daughter, Megan McCarty of Temecula, CA; his fishing, hunting, and travel buddy and brother, Jack Edward Lestina of Corona, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed Edward and Pat Patricia Lestina of AZ, and brother, Tommy Thomas Lestina.
