Peter Herzog, age 88, of Pequot Lakes Minnesota, passed away November 8, 2025. Peter was born January 24, 1937, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was the ninth child of 10.
Peter served in the US Marine Corp for 3 years. He worked at Northern States Power Company for 36 years. He married Sallie and together they had seven children. The family moved to Afton MN in 1971. Peter purchased Selma’s Ice Cream Shop to provide employment for his teenage kids. Peter was an active member of the St. Paul Rotary and the St. Paul Winter Carnival. He also enjoyed working at the MN State Fair ticketing gate for many years.
After Sallie’s death, Peter found new love and married Jean in 2003. Peter became involved in Greater Lakes Performing Arts and performed in seventeen plays. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing and traveling. Peter found sobriety in 1978 and celebrated fifty-two years of sobriety as an active member of AA. Peter’s faith and love of God was his guiding light.
Peter is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Katherine Herzog; sisters, Peg, Katie, Betty, Alice. Brothers, Tom, George, Jack, Joseph; and wife Sallie. He is survived by his wife, Jean; brother, Mark (Diane); children, Leanne (Mike) Roggemann, Nancy (Randy) Strobush, Suzi (Chip) Pederson, David (Lana) Herzog, Nora (John) Miller, Mary (Craig) Hofland, Stephen (Beth) Herzog; step children, LuAnn (Kirk) Danzl, Michelle Schequen; twenty-six grandchildren; fifty-three great grandchildren; eighteen great great grandchildren; five step grandchildren; and two great step grandchildren.
Memorials can be directed to the Pequot Lakes food shelf.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 11:00am, at St. Alice Catholic Church in Pequot Lakes. Visitation will take place one hour prior.
Final resting place will be at Hillside Cemetery in Center City MN. Interment will be held on November 19th at 1:00pm with a social gathering at St. Bridget’s of Sweden Catholic Church beginning at 11:30am.
