Patricia Ann Engebretson, 63, unexpectedly passed at her assisted living in Brainerd on April 14, 2025.
She was born December 19th, 1961 to Linda Lou and Burton Dal Engebretson in St. Paul, MN.
She grew up in Moundsview, MN with her siblings Daniel, Timothy, Suzette, Cheryl and Pamela. As well as Forest Lake in a beautiful farm house.
Patricia lived in the Anoka, Ramsey, Fargo, Crosby, Brainerd, Crosslake, and Walker areas as an adult.
Patricia had many jobs and was a jack of all trades including caregiving, cosmetology, concrete labor, and her hobby/love for the arts. Patty had also enjoyed her time truck driving and getting to travel.
Patricia became a mother, which was a gift she had always wanted and had her first and only son Austin Taylor Engebretson in 1995.
After many moves Patricia decided in the early 2000s to move away from the city area with her lovely son Austin to Crosby, MN so that she could start a new life and a family of her own. Patricia then had her beautiful, bright blue eyed, baby girl McKenzie Lou Engebretson in 2001. (Patty always said that McKenzie had the eyes of her beloved mother Linda Lou).
Patricia stayed in the Crosby area and raised her children.
Patricia faced many obstacles in life, including her health. One thing she didn’t do was give up.
Patricia was extremely special to many. She cared deeply about others, even before herself. Most of all, she cared deeply for her family and children who she loved tremendously. Patricia was extremely gentle, kind, and loving.
Patricia enjoyed many hobbies including arts and crafts; making tie blankets, jewelry, keepsake boxes and sun catchers.
Her favorite place was Como Zoo, where she took her children often and had family gatherings. She enjoyed looking at the gardens and all the butterflies that reminded her of those she missed.
Patty had a pure joy for music and dancing, but her favorite hobby of all was being with her family, especially with her Grandchild Briar LouAnn who she loved very much. Briar brought extreme ease and happiness to Patricia. Patricia was also very excited and looking forward to the arrival of her second grandchild. Being a grandma and mother was her favorite part of life.
Patricia is survived by her sisters Cheryl and Pamela, children Austin and McKenzie, granddaughter Briar and a soon to be grandchild,
Christine who she cared for as her own, her son-in-law, Gunnar, who she treated as her own son, Harley her furry companion, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and family and friends who she deeply admired and loved.
Patricia is proceeded in death by her grandparents, her parents Linda and Burton, sister Suzette, brothers Danielle and Timothy, as well as Uncle Ricky who was like a brother.
Patricia will be deeply missed by so many and loved for a lifetime!
Patricia would want loved ones to remember the words of a poem written for her by her daughter McKenzie-
“When I go, I beg don’t cry. All butterflies are meant to fly. I dance in the air with the butterflies and sing in the sunshine.
And if you ever need me, love will find a way.
As I will be near you everyday.
I now will watch over those, who hold me close and who I loved the very most.”
