Myrna Swanson

Myrna Verle Swanson, 93, of Merrifield, passed away peacefully at her home with loved ones by her side on June 2, 2018. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 11, 2018 at Crosslake Lutheran Church. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to services. Interment will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Myrna was born June 2, 1925, in Aberdeen, SD, the daughter of August and Minnie (Elsing) Dahme. Following her high school graduation and her 18th birthday, Myrna moved from South Dakota to Crystal. In 1947, she married Howard Raymond Swanson, Sr. Myrna enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her children. She and Howard moved to Merrifield to enjoy lake life in 1985. Myrna was a Board Member of the Mission Lakes Association for 20 years. She was very active in her church. She could always be found baking, planning and doing crafts for Yule Fest. She loved to fish, but most of all she cherished her family and spending as much time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be missed and is survived by her children, Howard (Jan) Swanson, of Ham Lake, Michael Swanson, of Crosby, and Robert Swanson of South Minneapolis; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; daughter-in-law, Linda Swanson; and all of her siblings.
