Minerva Kay

Minerva Marie Kay, age 97, of Pine River, and formerly of Backus, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Society in Pine River.

Minerva Butrom was born September 28, 1914, at Fort Ripley, MN, the daughter of John and Etta (McGuire) Butrom. She grew up and attended school in the Fort Ripley area. She married Lowell Kay on November 22, 1933 at Fort Ripley. They moved to Backus in 197,9 and in September of 2011, Minerva entered the Good Samaritan Society in Pine River.

She is survived by her sons, Russell (Angie) of Backus and Ivan of Greenwood, IN; 14 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Minerva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lowell; and two sisters, Eva and Zella.

Memorial services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Kline Funeral Home in Pine River, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Ponto Lake Cemetery at a later date.
