Mary Joan Plouffe, 81, passed away on March 18, 2026, in the ICU at St. Cloud, surrounded by the care and compassion of those attending to her.
Mary was a woman who found deep joy in life’s simple blessings. She loved crocheting and spent many peaceful hours tending to her garden, where she grew green beans, squash, and sweet corn. From the comfort of her home, she enjoyed watching hummingbirds, deer, and squirrels, finding beauty in the world just outside her window.
A devoted and faithful servant of Jehovah, Mary lived her life guided by her strong faith. She was known for her kindness, gentle nature, and the way she treated everyone she met with warmth and respect. Mary had a remarkable ability to see the good in others and never spoke ill of anyone. Her quiet strength and loving spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Mary is lovingly remembered by her son, John Plouffe; her daughters, Amy Plouffe and Kim Chapel; and her grandchildren, Destiny Lockwood, Breanna Kontt, and Jake Crawley. She is also survived by her brothers, Stanley Shepard and Roger Shepard, and her sister, April Strickland-Shepard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Mary Shepard, and her brothers, Ronald Shepard and Clifford “Skip” Shepard.
A memorial service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Jenkins Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Flowers may be sent to the Kingdom Hall.
A private family graveside service will take place at Wabedo Cemetery in Longville, Minnesota.
