Mary "Grandma Mary" Dague, age 87 of Brainerd, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, at her home surrounded by five generations of her family. Services will be 3:00 PM, Friday, December 31, 2010, at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter with visitation one hour prior to services and on Monday, January 3rd at 2:00 PM, at the Carson and Son Funeral Chapel in Maquoketa, Iowa, with visitation one hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Bridgeport Cemetery in Maquoketa, Iowa at a later date.
Mary was born on July 25, 1923 in Jackson County, Iowa to Howard J. Gibson and Opal A. Elliot. She was united in marriage to Eldon Dague on February 21, 1948 in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. Mary was very accomplished at quilt making and donated many of her quilts. She also made Christmas stockings and donated them to the Lincoln Education Center. Mary enjoyed cooking and baking for everyone.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon; three children, John Council, Leonard Wayne Council and Rick Dague; six brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by five children, Carol Hodgden, Earl "Pat" (Sheryl Ann) Council, Gary (Ellen) Council, Doris (Jeff) Krueger, and Randy (Sussie) Dague; sister, Lois Melton; brothers, Arnold (Marie) Gibson and Leon (Glenda) Gibson; twenty-0ne grandchildren; thirty- nine great Grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; and a special niece; Linda Kessel. Memorials are preferred to The American Cancer Society.
