Mary Anderson

Feb 19, 1943 — Aug 8, 2026

Crosslake

Age 83, of Crosslake, Minnesota, formerly of Minneapolis, passed away peacefully.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Dorothy Oman, and her brother, Steve Oman.

Mary is survived by her daughters Kari Muth (Jeff Elasky) and Dori Steigerwald (Chris); grandchildren Ben and Lauren Leisen, Noah Leisen, Madeline and Lafrance Broner, Grant Peterson, and Henry Peterson; and many other family members and friends who loved her deeply.

Mary attended Washburn High School and the College of Medical Technology. She later worked as a para-professional for Tri-City United School District, where she was dedicated to the most troubled children in the district. She found strength and meaning in her work with those students.

Mary’s lifelong passion was raising and training dogs. At the age of eleven she earned the Dog World Award for obedience with her German Shepherd, King. At age seventy-four she achieved a Grand Championship with her German Wirehaired Pointer, Zoe.

Mary will be remembered for her strong Christian faith. She often said, “I trust in the Lord with all my heart; without my faith, all the difficulties that I have faced in life, I could not have gotten through.”

She made a lasting impact on everyone she met, always smiling in any situation. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

“For to me to live is Christ” — Philippians 1:21
