Marvin Ray Kastanek

On the crisp autumn morning of Wednesday November 8th, 2023 at 9:22am, as the sun burst through the clouds Marvin passed away at Quiet Oaks Hospice House. His wife Shelly held him as he slipped from this world into the next.

Marvin is survived by his beautiful, caring wife Shelly Kastanek of Staples, MN. He is also survived by his son Erik Kastanek of Brooklyn Center. His daughter Elizabeth (Brandon) Dupre and their son Elijah. He is also survived by his mother, Irene Kastanek and sister Debbie Kastanek of Hibbing. Also surviving, are his in-laws, Vern and Jean Popowski as well his brother in law Jason (Amy). He leaves behind too many nieces and nephews to count and bountiful supply of friends. He loved you all.

When Marvin wasn't tinkering in his garage, he was out at the lake enjoying nature, while camping, hunting, or fishing. He could be found giving family and friends pontoon rides, fishing from the dock, and enjoying a cold beer around the campfire. One of his greatest joys was listening to the gaggles of kids running around the lake. He always had a patient ear to listen to a story from an old timer or one of the kids who would visit.

Marv is preceded in death by his father Bob Kastanek, his sister Shirley Stancek, his grandparents, as well as various aunts and uncles.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation in Marvin's name be made to Quiet Oaks Hospice House (5537 Galaxy Road, St. Cloud MN 56301).

A memorial service at the lake will be held at a future date.
