Marvin Baker

Marvin Lyle Baker, 79, Brainerd, born August 25, 1932, died August 31, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Village - Woodland. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, September 6 at Dykeman Union Cemetery near Garrison.

He served in Korea from 1949-1951. He was married in 1955 to Alice Gottsch. Besides being self-employed for many years, Marv worked as a heavy equipment operator, forestry foreman, forest tech, and a county agriculture inspector. When he retired in 1996, he often said, "there is never a dull moment."

He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten, by his sons, Robert Baker, of Brainerd and Rodney (Brenda) Baker, of Brainerd; daughter, Cindy (Dan) Derfler, of Pequot Lakes; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brothers, Maurice (Ruthe) Baker, of Morristown, NJ and William (Jaci) Baker, of Brainerd.
