Marita Peterson

Marita Joyce (Deathridge) Peterson was born April 16, 1934 and passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at her home in Hackensack just short of her 83rd birthday.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Peterson, Sr. Surviving are their five children: Cheri Westphal (Larry) of Backus, Tony Peterson (Dawn) of Hackensack, Timothy Peterson (Brenda) of Backus, Jeffrey Peterson (Sue) of Hackensack, Jack Peterson (Marianna) of Junction City, KS; 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by five sisters: Janet Coon (George), Sharon Stidman, Lyn Emery (Dan), Laurie Kahl, all of Hackensack, and Betty England of Papillion, NE.

Rita retired after 30 years of serving as Woodrow Township Clerk and was a member of the American Legion Post 202 Auxiliary. She enjoyed making greeting cards and playing cards and Bingo.

A memorial service for Rita will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, April 12, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Hackensack. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
