Marion Dinnetz

March 28, 1931 — June 1, 2017

Marion Dinnetz, age 86, of Pine River, passed away on June 1, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Society, Pine River. She was born in White Township, Marshall County, SD, on March 28, 1931. Marion graduated from Kidder School. She married Floyd Dinnetz on August 19, 1951. They raised their children in Coon Rapids, MN, and in 1986, they retired and moved to Pine River, MN.

Marion, known as "Queeny" to Floyd, enjoyed a lot of hobbies. She loved to garden and would point to one kind of flower and say, "Those are my favorites," then point at another kind and say, "Those are my favorites," but always struggled with her rose bushes. Marion was also an avid bowler and loved to travel. She also loved to bake and cook. She could whip up a meal to feed the whole family with just five cans but couldn't make a brownie to save her life. She made the best fudge! She passed on her recipe but no one could get it just like hers. She loved to collect and display everything from pencil sharpeners to bells to unique glassware, and of course, her tea cups and saucers. Marion loved, loved, loved to quilt. She would enter her quilts in the local fairs and brought home many ribbons. Most of all, she loved to talk! She really enjoyed hanging out with family and friends and just talk...oh the stories she must have heard and told.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney Brabrook and Anna Otterness; her beloved husband, Floyd Dinnetz; sister, Lois Zimmerman and twin sister, Mary.

She is survived by her children: David Dinnetz (Le), Paul Dinnetz (Debbie), Fred Dinnetz, Curt Dinnetz (Cindy), Carolyn Janssen (Kent), Dan Dinnetz (Janelle); sister, Gertie Corpe (Willy); 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Monday, June 26, at First Lutheran Church, 309 N. 2nd St., Pine River, MN 56474. Luncheon will immediately follow. Inurnment will be at a later date at Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery, Camp Ripley.
