Lorrie Rode, 67, of Pequot Lakes, formerly of Brooklyn Park, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 9, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Lorrie Jean (Peterson) Rode was born November 27, 1957, in Waseca, MN to Lloyd and Arlene (Schmidt) Peterson. Lorrie grew up in Waseca along with her sister, Linda. She graduated from Waseca High School in 1976 and from the University of Minnesota in 1980. She also received her master’s degree in developmental/adapted physical education from the U. Lorrie was united in marriage to Michael Rode on July 11, 1987. They made their home in Brooklyn Park where they raised their two sons, David and Derek. Lorrie taught for 35 years, with 33 years as an adapted physical education specialist in Monticello. She retired in 2017 and then substitute taught for two more years. In 2019, Lorrie & Mike fulfilled their dream of living on a lake when they moved to a home on Middle Cullen Lake in Pequot Lakes. Lorrie enjoyed walking in the woods, biking, playing pickleball and golf, reading, and spending time on the pontoon. She especially enjoyed time with family and friends.
Lorrie is survived by her loving husband Mike; sons David (Erin) of Duluth and Derek (Taylor) of Crystal; sister Linda (Bob) Culhane of San Antonio, TX; nieces, nephews, and other family members & friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Arlene Peterson; parents-in-law Thomas and Virginia Rode; and infant daughter Nicole Jean Rode.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 18 at 12 p.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Brooklyn Park. Visitation will take place from 10:30 a.m. to the time of the service, with a luncheon to follow.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Baxter.
