Lois Steffen

August 8, 1929 — May 15, 2024

Crosslake

Lois Steffen played her final winning bridge hand on May 7th and passed away on May 15, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.   Besides being a Bridge Life Master, she was a fine swimmer, water skier, snow skier, avid reader and world traveler.

In her later years she loved tending her property, planting her garden, mowing her lawn, driving her golf cart, and spending time with family swimming in the lakes of Crosslake, Minnesota.   She loved watching the birds and enjoying nature.   Everyone came to Lois’ home for her home cooking and her delicious pies.

Lois was also an adventurer, always ready to try new things.  She went ziplining at age 81 and at 92, she tried her THC infused Chocolates and “went flying”.   She was always a fascinating and interesting conversationalist, often peppering the participants with challenging questions.  She was quite spunky before she passed over to the other side at the age of 94.

Perhaps, her finest quality was her lifelong generosity to her children, grandchildren and friends who knew she was always ready to do everything she could to help them.  They all knew she was there for them through thick and thin, good times and bad.

She will be greatly missed by her lone surviving sibling, Lee Lanning (and his wife Joyce), and her children (and their spouses), Tim Steffen (Mary Steffen), Sheridan Steffen (deceased), Terri Steffen (Paul Bilzerian), Cynthia Haakana, Dan Steffen (deceased) (Lisa Steffen), Leslie Haglund (Rob Haglund), and Greg Steffen (Kim Steffen).

She is also loved and will be missed by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren who came from all over the country to see her just before she passed.   In her final days, she found the strength to rally and leave her hospital bed to return home to spend time with her friends and family one last time.   Lois spent her final week saying farewell and, of course, taking a few spins in her golf cart.   She was predeceased by her amazing husband, Harry Steffen, to whom she was married for fifty-eight years.

In lieu of flowers, please do an unexpected good deed.  She would love it.

Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Crosslake.
