With faith in Jesus Christ and gratitude for her life, we announce that Lois Mae (Swedeen) Gibbs entered her eternal home on November 24, 2025, at the age of 92. She was the daughter of Harley and Virginia Swedeen and from a family of seven siblings (Don, Lois, Bill, Ray, Kenny, Ginnie and Herb).
Lois lived a life of kindness, compassion, and deep faith. She was a longtime member of Peace Presbyterian Church in St. Louis Park, MN with many cherished friends there. She always made others feel important and heard. The last 2 ½ years she enjoyed many new friendships with her friends at the Whitefish At The Lakes in Crosslake, MN.
She began a small sewing business out of her home as a young mom. It blossomed quickly to becoming the designer and maker of costumes for the Minnesota Vikings Cheerleaders (Parkettes Dance Line from St. Louis Park, MN). That also included once a year, the Park Petites, who put on the Vikings half time show. Later, quilting became her passion when sewing!
She was married to the love of her life, Richard F. Gibbs, for 60 years! She was right by his side, caring for him till he passed on to his new heavenly home. Lois was a devoted mother to Eileen Kulseth (Tim), Randy (Lisa), and Ben (Jill) Gibbs. She loved her grandchildren dearly - Jessica, Stephanie (Ben), Haley (Jason), Katie, Ethan (Becca), Bahati, and Heather Dymock (Foreign Exchange granddaughter). And then there were her precious great grandkids, Alexandra, Jaxson, Josiah, Addison and Hanah Maas. She was so filled with love for them all!
A celebration of life will be held at Crosslake Evangelical Free Church (The Log Church) in Crosslake, MN on December 20th at 11am, lunch following the service. (37218 County Road 66 Crosslake, MN 56442) Visitation with the family 10am before the service.
Her life of gentle strength and Christian love will continue in the hearts of those who knew her.
