Leonard John Thorsett, 81, of Motley, MN passed away on November 11, 2025, in Staples, MN from natural causes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Motley, MN on Friday November 21, 2025, at 11:00am. A Rosary and Visitation will begin at 10:00am at the church. There will be a luncheon directly following Mass.
Leonard was born in Staples, MN to Helen (Vasecka) and Morley Thorsett. He graduated from Motley High School in 1962. IN the early years, he managed the VFW in Staples, was a one-time owner of Al’s Bar and owned Dayton’s Drive-In in Motley. Leonard also worked at the family sawmill and was over the road driving truck for Foltz Trucking for many years.
Leonard is survived by his son Mark (Kristina) Thorsett of Staples, daughter Jodie Thorsett of Leader, daughter Shellie (Jim) Hobson of Lincoln, son Timothy (Christina) Thorsett of Motley, daughter Vanessa (Jason) Coleman of Clear Lake, SD, 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and sister Barbara (Morris) Bellefeuille of Little Falls.
He is preceded in death by his mother Helen, his father Morley, grandson Michael DeWald, and twin granddaughters Vivienne and Cecilia Coleman.
Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
