Leo Anthony Yanta was born on August 1, 1934, in Little Falls, MN to Leo and Mary (Skochenski) Yanta. He attended District 31 school and attended Crosier Seminary in Onamia, MN, for two years. He graduated from Swanville High School in 1954.

On June 29, 1963, Leo was united in marriage to Patricia Mary Mrozek in Flensburg, MN. The couple made their home in Northeast Minneapolis for almost a year. They bought their first home in Coon Rapids, MN, in May of 1964. They became parents to three daughters. Leo worked for Honeywell as a Millwright for 35 years until his retirement in 1992. He was honored with a plaque for his years of dedicated service and fine dinner hosted by his supervisors from Honeywell.

Leo was a long time member of Ephipany Catholic Church in Coon Rapids, MN, until his retirement. He and Patricia retired to their lake home near Pillsbury, MN, in June of 1994. Leo and Patricia became members of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Swanville, MN, for over 30 years.

Leo served in the United States Army as a cook for several years and was stationed in Germany. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Anoka Chapter in 1993 and then Swanville/Grey Eagle Chapter once he retired. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and Bingo at Long Prairie Care Center, making rosary’s and listening and dancing to Old Time Polka music. He and Patricia loved to travel, often taking bus tours to many different states.

Blessed to share his life of 62 years are his wife, Patricia; daughters, Liane Yanta of Ramsey, MN, and Lori Dinville (Greg) of Zimmerman, MN; grandsons, Bradley and Tony Dinville. He was proceeded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Dwayne Lulich. Also proceeded by his parents and all eleven of his sisters and brothers.

Thank You to Moments Hospice and Long Prairie Care Center for their dedication and devotion while caring for Leo.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11am on Friday, October 10, 2025 at St. John the Baptist Church in Swanville. Visitation will be one hour prior.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Randall.
