Lavoane Meyer

Lavoane Francis Meyer, 91, of Baxter MN, passed away November 8, 2021.

Lavoane was born on March 14, 1930 to William and Elna Lebeda in Downer, MN.  She grew up on the family farm south of Bagley with her 3 brothers - Dale, Gary, and Joseph.

After graduating from Bagley High School in 1948, she attended Normal Training in Red Lake Falls, MN. After graduation, she was a teacher for grades 1-8 in a one room schoolhouse in Brooks, MN. While attending Normal Training, Lavoane met Harold G. Meyer of Red Lake Falls, MN; they were married in 1951. They had 4 children: Connie, William, James, and Glen.

Lavoane enjoyed working at Nelson's Fabric but found her true calling as a rural mail carrier with the Brainerd Post Office. She relished delivering mail in every kind of Minnesota weather, often checking in on elderly residents along her route.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and, especially, thrift shops and garage sales.

Lavoane was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers. She is survived by her husband of 70 1/2 years, her 4 children, 11 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Baxter on Tuesday, November 16th at 2pm with a visitation starting one hour prior.
