LaVerne Mary Schiller passed away on April 17, 2026 in Aitkin, MN. LaVerne was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who took every chance to spoil her grandchildren. LaVerne was born on June 6, 1950 in Little Falls, MN to Leo & Gertrude Fussy. She was raised on the family farm, with her sister Leonette, in Bowlus, MN. Upon graduating from Upsala High School, she moved out to Seattle to work at the Port of Seattle. She returned to Bowlus, and married Roger Schiller on October 23, 1971. They purchased LaVerne’s family’s farm and raised their two sons, Patrick & Robert on it. LaVerne filled many roles throughout the years, both on the farm, and in the community. She was a Cub Scout leader and a CCD teacher as the boys grew. One of her greatest joys was making sure there were fresh baked goods for Roger before he went out to do milking chores, and the boys when they got home from school. She found fulfillment in working alongside Roger & the boys, but always dreamed of retiring on a lake so she could go fishing anytime she wanted. Upon retirement, she & Roger moved up to their lake home in Aitkin, where she realized that dream. One of the joys of lake living was having the grandchildren come and stay for awhile to teach them what a wet willy and wedgie were...she regretted that when she became the victim to those!
LaVerne is survived by her husband, Roger, and 2 sons, Pat (Vicki) & Bob (Gretchen), and 4 grandchildren, Justin, Nancy, Kate & Emily, sister Leonette Welle, sisters-in-law Judy (Jim) Douvier & Karen Schiller, and brothers-in-law Ken (Shannon) Schiller & Steve (Patty) Schiller.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leo & Gertrude Fussy, father & mother-in-law Harlin & Rita Schiller, and brothers-in-law Charles Welle & Mike Schiller.
