Kim Riewer

Kim Louise Riewer, 57, of Staples, MN passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018 surrounded by her family at her home. Mass of Christian Burial for Kim will be 11:00AM, Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples, with Father Gabriel Walz officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be 4-8PM, Friday, November 2nd at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and again one hour prior to Mass at the church.

Kim was born March 1, 1961 in Robbinsdale, MN to Robert and Ruth (Leslie) Nurnberger. She graduated from Staples High School in 1979. Kim married Gary Otteson February 24, 1979. Gary and Kim had two children; Jolene and Aaron. He passed away on June 3, 1981. Kim was united in marriage to John Riewer on September 27, 1986 and together they had two children; Malerie and Jordan. John and Kim and the children lived in Cokato; and in 2006 they moved back to Staples. Kim managed the gift shop at Lakewood Health System. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling, crocheting and sewing. Kim was a “sports mom”, and she played softball. Family was the most important to Kim, and she loved spending time with them at the cabin in Nevis, MN.

Kim is survived by her husband, John Riewer; daughter, Jolene (Derek) Owen and children, Eli and Ruthie; son, Aaron (Ashley) Otteson and daughter, Camilla; daughter, Malerie (Christopher) Klabo and children, Juliette and Calvin; son Jordan Riewer; parents, Robert and Ruth Nurnberger; siblings, Robert Allen Nurnberger, Scot Nurnberger and Sherri Nurnberger. Her first husband, Gary Otteson, preceded her in death. Services have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
