Kenneth Spangler

Kenneth J. Spangler, 85, of Baxter, MN entered the Kingdom of God on Monday November 29, 2021. Services will be on Thursday December 9, 2021 at 12:00pm at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Baxter. There will be a Masonic Service at 11:45am, prior to the service on Thursday. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday December 8, 2021 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Baxter, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, MN.

Ken was born on February 22, 1936 in rural Bemidji, MN to Jim and Cleo Spangler. He graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1954. He proudly served three years in the United States Army. Ken was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church. He retired from Potlatch in Brainerd, MN after 42 years of service.

He was supportive in his community and was active with the YMCA, the Brainerd Area Civic Center, amateur sports, the Masonic Lodge #100 and Shriners, the American Legion and Eagles Club. Ken proudly served his God and his church.

Ken enjoyed time at his hunting property, driving his 1931 Chevy, and snowmobiling in northern Minnesota. His children were always a source of joy and his loving care.

He is survived by his close friend Hope Johnston, two sons Mark and Greg, daughter Kimberly Jones, his first wife, Marylou Ruff, three grandsons, Dylan Jones and Jonathan and Tanner Spangler, and his sister Mattie (Gary) Kurilla.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents, his son Brad, son in-law Norman Jones, his grandson Trevor Spangler, and his brother Jim Spangler.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to The Shriners Club.

Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Baxter.
