Kenneth Schmidt

Kenneth L. Schmidt passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025, surrounded by his family at home with his prized bucks looking over him. Serving 18+ years in the Army National Guard, Ken was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved walking in the woods. He also enjoyed golfing and was a sports enthusiast. During the summer you could find him with his children and grandchildren camping at the local campgrounds or just sitting around a fire. His special trips were reserved for him and his wife, Shirley, at Washkish.

Kenny was proceeded in death by his parents, Howard and Carrie; his brothers, Duane (Sonny) and Tommie; and sisters, Sherene (Sue), Kathy, Darlene, and Karen; his son, Kirt; and his brother-in-law, Robert Miller.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; sister, Joyce (Albert) Martin from Backus, Minnesota; brother, James (Randi) Schmidt from Bloomington, Minnesota; brother, Cary Dean (Anita) Schmidt from Maplewood, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Gerald (Lisa) Miller from Minneapolis, Minnesota; children, Teresa (Stephen) McDonough from Rockport, Indiana; Ginny (Martin) Klasen from New York Mills, Minnesota; Jeffrey Schmidt from Bemidji, Minnesota; Richard (Megan) Anderson from Webster, South Dakota; Gregory Schmidt from Bemidji, Minnesota; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of life for Kenny will be held from 2PM-4PM on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 12632 Roosevelt Rd SE, Bemidji, MN 56601.
