Kenneth Hans Rabenberg, 84, of Merrifield, died Tuesday May 17th at home while working in his garden. A memorial service will be held 9:30 AM, Friday, May 20, 2011 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Baxter, MN, followed by interment with military honors at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 20, 2011. Family and friends are invited back to church in Baxter following the graveside services for a luncheon.
Kenneth was born on February 5, 1927 in Wilmont Minnesota to Hans and Laura Rabenberg. Kenneth served in the Navy during World War 2 on a submarine sweeper. After being discharged he went to Wilmont, where he farmed his father's land with his wife Gen whom he married November 14, 1946. There they had 3 children and eventually moved to Rochester, Minnesota where they had an additional child. They eventually retired and moved to Phoenix, Arizona where they resided for 22 years. In 2003 they moved to Merrifield where they currently reside.
Kenneth is survived by his wife Gen of 64 years, children Cheryl Nash of Merrifield, Gary Rabenberg of Valley City, North Dakota, Terry Rabenberg of Chaska and Tracy Rabenberg of Mound; sister Dorothy Shouts of Bloomington; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; one sister in law and 2 brother in laws.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter.
