Katherine “Kathie” Ann Windorski (Armstrong), age 84, of Deerwood, passed away on August 30, 2025.
Kathie was born on May 18, 1941, in Blue Earth, Minnesota, to Loren Norris and Neva Lucille (Shuttleworth) Armstrong. She was the oldest of six daughters and carried that role with warmth, strength, and a touch of humor throughout her life.
On September 20, 1968, she was united in marriage to Michael Thomas Windorski in Crosby, Minnesota. Together they built a loving family, raising two sons, Thomas and Matthew.
Kathie dedicated her professional life to caring for others. After completing her training as a Medical Laboratory Technician, she worked for 31 years at Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin, where she served as the head of the laboratory. Her commitment, knowledge, and compassion left a lasting impact on her colleagues and community.
Beyond her career, Kathie found joy in the everyday moments of life. She loved cheering on her sons and grandchildren in their sports and activities, tending to her bird feeders, playing cards with family, and catching up on the latest family stories at gatherings. In retirement, she gave back to her community as a volunteer driver and senior companion in the Brainerd and Crosby area, offering kindness and support to many.
Kathie is survived by her sons, Thomas Michael Dosen-Windorski of Grand Rapids and Matthew David (Jessica) Windorski of Deerwood; her grandchildren Emily (Liam) Showalter, Samantha Dosen-Windorski, Gabriel Windorski, Connor Windorski, and Jayda Windorski; and her great-grandchild Elliot Showalter. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Jessica, her sisters, and many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Loren and Neva Armstrong; her husband, Mike; daughter-in-law, Amanda Dosen-Windorski; and grandson, John Michael Dosen-Windorski.
Kathie will be remembered for her steady love and unwavering devotion to her family.
A memorial service will be held 5pm – 7pm on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Burial will take place at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.
