Karol Goedker

July 12, 1939 — January 27, 2019

Karol Dee Goedker, age 79, of Baxter passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2019, at home with her husband’s arms around her and her family by her side. She had courageously battled cancer for the past 19 years. Her funeral service will be on Thursday, January 31, at Park United Methodist Church in Brainerd, with Pastor David Grotzke officiating. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. The service begins at noon followed by a luncheon. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd.

Karol was born in Brainerd on July 12, 1939, to Bernard and Myla (Spiess) Weseman. She graduated from Washington High School in 1957. On November 28, 1959, she married Gene Goedker, the love of her life. Karol managed Goedker Property Management for 35 years. A lifelong member of the Methodist church, her strong Christian faith shaped her many relationships with family and friends. An outgoing and friendly person, she enjoyed participating in several social organizations. Karol treasured the time she spent with friends, family, and especially her grandchildren. Her creativity was beautifully expressed in the poems she wrote, her artistic interests, and her many collections. Karol and Gene enjoyed many travels together.

Karol will be greatly missed and remembered forever by Gene, her devoted husband of 60 years; her sons: David (Sherri) of Brainerd, Steven (Denise) of Berkley, Michigan, and Kevin (Colleen) of Brainerd; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Wanda (Doug) Brunn of St. Cloud. She was preceded in death and has been reunited in heaven with her parents and her grandson, Israel Goedker.
